Communications Plan – Boulder Area REALTORS® Association
(1) Improve the value of BARA’s communications to members and
(2) Deliver a high tech/high touch communications plan.
Each year the Board of Directors of the Boulder Area REALTOR® Association gather to work on a plan that answers the question “Where are we going?” As the result of an all member survey and two focus groups, it was clear that BARA’s communications to their members were inadequate. The entire BOD invested a full day to create the communications plan. As they move forward, staff and board will move as a cohesive group towards their goals. They are already feeling the rewards of the Communications Plan Workshop. One day for years worth of value – a huge win for BARA!
Outcome and Feedback
“The workshop uncovered some very sore topics that desperately needed to be brought to the table. For example, our monthly news vehicle, once the crown jewel of the association, clearly has very limited value to our members. The workshop led us to ask our publisher some pretty fierce questions and could very well change the publishers entire business model.
One of our goals was to create and deliver a “high tech/high touch” communication plan. From this goal, BARA established for the first time ever a Communications Committee. The committee is establishing an “Ambassador” program where staff and directors “pop-by” member offices and perhaps open houses. BARA has also subscribed to a software-as-service product that facilitates communities within the association.
Following the workshop, Melynn provided our leadership with a succinct “BARA Communications Plan” that we reference at every gathering of the Directorate. With Melynn’s leadership, we have laser sharp goals, benchmarks and measurements that will help us keep track of our progress.”
